Weekly PT #234 - Finding Soccer ( Football) - Starscream - 2026-05-15
This Write more of the person behind Star Scream. As being a fellow canadian, Soccer (Football ) is not our main sport to fall into. Most might know but hockey is canada main sport. Becoming a fan of a sport you really don't know or understand fully, over time i have no background ties or heritage ties to any country who is super committed to Soccer (Football). Everyone has heard of the teams like Man United and Liverpool , Real Madrid etc etc through out the history of the sport. What really got me into following the sport alot closer was actually watching a TV Series called Sunderland Til I Die. Following the downfall of sunderland it really got me to pay more attention to the team and follow the premier league closer. After the sunderland fail, Canadian Actor Ryan Reynolds bought a football club named Wrexham and created a tv show. Even when wrexham was in the shadow realm it gave you that perspective of following a football club at a low level. After that we had a new hire at work come into work who was from Ukraine, huge Man United Fan and loves football. With the combination of me finding these shows and his love of football at work we created a little Fantasy league following the Premier League and Championship. The Teams we picked made me way more involved and following football alot closer now and excited for the world cup. I personally never really played the sport just a little bit at school. The TV Shows honestly made the connection for me from canadian small town kid to now joining two Sim leagues one SHL AND SSL. Me personally of finding teams that i like , like Liverpool and Sunderland because of the show made that true connection. Everyone has different ways on how they get into the sport, by playing or watching or whatever reason that is. This is how i really got into watching football and joining a sim League.
