Port Royal: Pizca Steps Down, McGlynn Steps Up - Definia - 2026-05-16
Big news hit the Port Royal locker room yesterday as Pizca, the seasoned academy coach for Port Royal announced he would be stepping down from his position as coach effective immediately. Let it not be mistaken, this was simply down to issues outwith his control and certainly not down to the performances on the pitch as Port Royal have certainly completely turned their season around so far after a dismal run of 4 winless games. Pizca expressed his deepest of regrets in making such a decision but made it with only his rookies in mind. The players let their love for their gaffer be known in the locker room, expressing their gratitude at guiding them through a tough start to the season and helping them hit this good run of form they're on, and they promised to continue and finish the season with a bang.
The Board of Directors approached player Barry McGlynn and asked his thoughts on stepping up to the plate as Player Coach and helping see out the remainder of the season. They see McGlynn as being a strong leader within the locker room as he already helped Pizca with setting up the team tactically for the last few games. McGlynn had this to say, "Absolutely, count me in! Pizca done a fantastic job getting us out of our rut and keeping all of us rookies on their toes. I will do my best to ensure that we finish in our strongest position we can, we play the top 3 in our last 3 games and we will make sure we finish as high as we can, and make the run in for the title messy for the teams above us!"
