A Strange Series of Events - jacobcarson877 - 2026-05-17 Well this week has certainly been an interesting one for Kaspars Kalinins, as a debilitating suspension towards a player up the depth chart has landed Kalinins an early promotion to the Liffeyside squad, mid-season. While others in his class have already of course begun to make their mark on the SSL Majors, this is the long-awaited Majors debut of the S23 1OA selection, and as such there is certainly some hype behind it, even above and beyond the circumstances that enabled it. There are certainly some questions as to his readiness, especially in such a core position in the squad, with a variety of offensive and defensive responsibilities. There will obviously be some early-campaign jitters, as to be expected, but in the end, I do expect him to even it out, and begin to perform at a tolerable click, maybe not this season, but soon. Everyone knows the sky is the limit, but the question will truly be what the floor is. Another way he can get involved in the play outside of just holding the fort, is to become a fan favourite and get the crowd involved, even with neutral site games. Getting his opponents riled up, getting the fans hyped up, controlling the narrative and the energy. It’s a big ask, but he’s up to it. |
