Academy Team of the Season – Part 1 (TPE)

The season has drawn to an end, titles have been won and lost, and so I thought now would be a good time to wrap things up nicely in preparation for the incoming Draft.
I wanted to chuck together some teams of the seasons. I say ‘teams’ because there are a few different ways I can do this. One being a team based on the highest TPE players, and one based on the Average Rating of each player, which I think would be an interesting comparison, and we can also get a sense of how important (or not) TPE actually is and if it correlates to performances on the pitch.
This one will be the TPE one, as, as of right now, the Index still isn’t quite accurate, so I’ll have to leave the Average Rating one for another time.

For this, I’m also going to be grouping RWB/RD, LWB/LD, RAM/RM and LAM/LM together, to make my life a bit easier, as well as basing the choices solely off their Primary positions as it started to frazzle my brain trying to fit everyone in, and in a formation that’s not completely batshit crazy. I’m also going to pick some players across most positions as a sort of subs bench, so we can get more names on the board, as although coming 2nd gets you nowhere, it does get you into this article!
So without further ado, let’s crack on.

Team of the Season: Based on highest TPE (3-1-2-3-1 Formation...):

GK - Moew EnBach (407 TPE):
The Stockholm ‘keeper is the first name on the team-sheet and is currently the highest-rated goalkeeper in the class.

RWB - Christopher Bergmann (412 TPE):
The German wing-back comes in as our first outfield player.

CD - Jimothy Erickson (427 TPE):
Big Jim rocks up as the highest rated CD and will keep that backline impenetrable.

LWB - Joshua Homme III Esquire Limited [boosting that word count, cheers mate] (433 TPE):
Currently, at the time of writing, one of 5 players sharing the overall TPE top-spot.

CDM - S Sei (430 TPE):
The defensive midfielder did a rock-solid job, and the defenders behind him will surely have an easier life with Sei in front of them.

CM - Reece Munro (433 TPE):
The Port Royal midfield maestro finished the season as the Class’ highest rated central midfielder along with STAR SCREAM.

CM – STAR SCREAM (433 TPE):
Joining Reece in the central midfield positions is STAR SCREAM, who is also one of the ‘Big 5’

RAM - Jack Pow (420 TPE):
I sneak in to the team purely down to less options in this position. I could’ve played another LAM here, I could’ve also played most of the bench here, but it’s my article so shurrup. ;)

CAM - Barry McGlynn (431 TPE):
Everyone’s shoe-in for 1OA pick in the Draft, Barry who has been top of the class regularly throughout the season cements his spot as the team’s central attacking midfielder.

LAM – Joe Mormor (433 TPE):
Joe just edges it in a what I’d consider to be one of the most stacked positions, talent-wise, alongside Nick Kasak and Kairo Vox.

ST - Dennis van Huntelrooy (433 TPE):
Dennis comes in as the team’s number 9 and the highest rated striker of the class, as well being one of the five joint-top-rated overall.

And here's how it looks on paper:

Subs (Honourable Mentions):
GK – Umaq Yupanqui (405 TPE)
RWB – Alex Pena (406 TPE)
CD – Saphira Brightscales (401 TPE)
CDM – Ignignokt (404 TPE)
LAM – Nick Kasak (431 TPE)
LAM – Kairo Vox (430 TPE)
CAM – Mullet Man (401 TPE)
ST – Dante Von Wolfe (421 TPE)
ST – Owen Goal (420 TPE)

So there we have it, a formidable team that would win the lot I think you’ll agree! Kasak, Vox and Wolfey are unfortunate to miss out, but I had to think of the team guys, think of the balance. But no, seriously, you all deserve to be in there, but you do have a place in my heart, which i personally think is even better. I might try putting together the Average rating Team of the Season next week if the Index gets fixed! Cheers for reading, and good luck in the Draft everyone!
