Oh, the Places We Will Go! - DidYouSeeThatLudicrousDisplay? - 2026-06-04 I was poking around in the index, looking for something to write for the subject of this media, and I stumbled across a stat that is really fun, and I knew I had to just do a brief look at it to put it into perspective. Distance Run (in km) Looking at the top 10 runners in the league this season, we see Hollywood FC's Alexandros Mograine leading the way with 219.1 kms run! The rest of the top ten isn't that far behind and it got me to thinking. What if there was a straight shot that each one handed a baton off to the next as if it were a relay race? How far could they go? The top 10 runners came out to 1351.3 kms when you add them up together, or 2,174.7 miles for those in the US. I took this data and went to the internet to find out where our course could possibly lead us. If you ran South from Portland, ME (Maybe as a Mainer, I'm biased for starting here, but I'm not apologizing), if you travelled 1351.3 kms, you'd travel a good portion of the Eastern United States and end up just 8 km north of Miami, Florida! For our European friends, two locations that are even closer, within 3 km, are the distance between the Principality of Monaco and Helsinki, Finland! And that's just our top 10 Distance Run leaders! Imagine if we put all of the distance together... I've probably squeezed what little fun there is out of this, but I thought it was an interesting little exercise to see just how far our cleated feet could take us! Code: Word Count: 279 words |
