S27 Class Writeup Part 1 - PBubs900 - 2026-06-09 With the S26 Entry Draft in the past, the SSL world keeps on moving forward as a new batch of recruits join to fill the ranks in the SSL Academy. The Academy is where this new crop of aspiring pros will essentially compete in an extended tryout, trying to garner the attention of General Managers who will be using their accrued draft picks to select them in the S27 Entry Draft at the end of the season. While it is expected that there will be more players recruited into the Academy in the following days, today I'd like to take a look at the early birds who have already created their players and entered the ranks. I'll be taking a look at 4 players today from a variety of positions, looking to continue this series in the coming weeks. LWB - Rylakn - @Rylakn - Australia Rylakn is an attacking minded left-footed wingback heralding from Australia who is gifted in terms of speed. His pace and acceleration are among the best in the class, and he will use these abilities to control the game on the left side of the pitch. After looking at some builds of more established players, pace and acceleration rule the meta of the SSL, so Rylakn is in a good position to make an impact in the Academy from day one. Rylakn also possesses some skill in dribbling and crossing, which will allow him to rapidly advance up the left side with the ball on his foot and deliver pinpoint crosses to his attacking teammates. With the traits Runs With Ball Often and Gets Forward Whenever Possible, Rylakn will look to be one of the main offensive facilitators for his team. The rest of his game could definitely use some work, especially his defending attributes in order to do more defensive work and help out his center backs and goaltender, but the development in this area will surely come in the coming weeks as he gets some gametime in the Academy. ST - Bonnibel Bubblegum - @PBubs900 - Germany The Princess of the Candy Kingdom makes her way over from the Land of Ooo to become a striker in the SSL. Bubblegum looks to operate as a target forward who allows her teammates to do most of the work moving the ball up the pitch. Getting into the box whenever possible and running with the ball rarely, Bubblegum will try to win the ball up top, dish it to teammates, then rush into the box to attempt to win headers and get some tap ins for easy goals. Bubblegum has a few standout stats including pace, acceleration, and jumping reach, allowing her to get up the pitch quickly and dominate defenders in the air. With great finishing and a soft first touch, Bubblegum will use these skills to execute her gameplan every match. Bubblegum should look to get a bit stronger and quicker and also improve her passing abilities to become more reliable as a target forward who does not like to dribble. GK - Slim Towered - @stankpicklez - United States Our first goaltender of the class, Slim Towered is a player who is very light on his feet, making lateral movements look easy, which is a great trait for a goalkeeper to have. The ability to quickly move side to side along with his excellent reflexes will make him very tough to score against. Another top skill of Towered is his aerial reach, allowing him to reach well placed shots in the top corners. He is also able to stay well focused through the duration of a match, making sure there are no soft goals allowed as the clock reaches 90 minutes. Towered should continue honing his top skills as well as his one on ones to maintain his status as an elite netminder in the class. LAM - Landy Donnie - @Mode - United States Our second American in the Academy, Donnie is a winger with elite playmaking skills and an otherwise well-rounded skillset. His passing ability underlines his overall toolkit, emerging early on as one of the best, if not the best passers in the Academy this season. It is by far and away his best trait. Donnie is a particularly smart player for this skill level, with great decision making and anticipation, pairing nicely with his passing. He is able to anticipate the movement of his teammates and then make the correct decision as to who to pass to. This combined with solid dribbling, touch, vision, agility, and off the ball movement make him one of the best facilitators in the class thus far. Donnie also possesses a dangerous long shot, allowing him to catch goalkeepers off guard from distance, adding another dimension to his skillset. In order to better take advantage of these abilities, Donnie will need to focus on his pace and acceleration, which will allow him to get up the pitch quicker and more easily beat players off the dribble. RE: S27 Class Writeup Part 1 - Definia - 2026-06-09 There are definitely some top quality players coming up this academy season! Excited to see what they bring on the pitch!
