Back on the beach with Sandro - gucci - 2026-06-15
Season 27 will be massive for Sandro and his club team CDT. Back up in the top division after a single embarrassing year spent down in the lower division, CDT is looking to prove itself contenders rather than pretenders. Sandro sees himself as a vital part of that challenge.
To train, Sandro traded the swampy Mexico City where he’s made his home for his childhood home of Natal. Sandro didn’t go home last year, and he felt himself fall off over the course of the season, even as he played at a much lower level than he had in the past. He remembered how he used to train to get to this level in the first place. In both Brazil and Sydney, he was out at the beach every morning, strengthening his legs in the sand. Improving his agility and balance as well as his speed and stamina. He’d gotten away from this, and his body is no longer the machine it once was.
Sandro is up before the sunrise each morning, fighting his inner demons in the sand. Thoughts of not being good enough, never reaching his ambitions in the game, not representing his country and family well enough… Nothing a bit of early morning sand sprints and agility training can’t fix. By the time he’s back in Mexico City, he will be ready to take the first division by storm. He can only hope that his teammates are just as prepared.
