Sei appointed academy manager of PS Jakarta - xyan - 2026-06-20

"How are you going to keep up a schedule that allows being both a player and a manager, let alone for teams in different countries?"

This question asked by the reporter stuck with Sei; how would he do it, but effectively, was the real thought.

To Sei, this was an opportunity to improve outside the scope of his physical capabilities. Not only would this make him better off the field, as a player and mentor, but also help his professional athletic IQ. Other than during matches for Rapid Magyar and watching tape on opponents and his organization's majors team, Shanghai Dragons, Sei could utilize knowledge of other teams and players. This was a chance to learn how others approach the performance of the game, prepare for it, and teach it to others. Additionally, this was info that could help break through any wall that is future opposition tactics or players that become threats to winning.

The referral to become an academy manager was put in from his Sydney coaching staff and approved by executives high in the SSL staff. If it was to be, than Sei had at least some of the qualities fitting the role, and the capability to do so according to those in charge.

The day he found out was a little surprising though; Sydney would not be his destination, despite his efforts to make it so. Sydney was to be used by retiring players as part of the academy intake rotation, until more academy recruits were accepted into the ranks. Instead, Sei found himself managing PS Jakarta. This was a team that friendly opponents were a part of last season, but also big shoes to fill considering they had placed first of all the academy teams last season.

His first batch of academy players were:
Rylakn @Rylakn
Paulie Wag @Pelochyta
Slim Towered @stankpicklez
Adrian Scochnikov @Chris
Landy Donnie @Mode
Callum Wiggins @wigmeister14

Joining closer to the first match was:
Marvin Fish @WildBoyy

Training for the start of the season was interesting, between having known a couple players from an online sports community discord, and rather quiet players being part of the group, especially one who does not communicate except via online messaging. Something about not letting Mee6 not know their phone number? Maybe they mean voice, as if afraid of talking in the academy facility in case there were recording devices?

The first match was a huge success. The team took on the retired players representing Sydney City, ironically for Sei. The result was a resounding 2 - 0 win, off of an own goal forced by Rylakn, and a late goal made by Adrian after a clean passing assit by Marvin Fish.

In the time before our second match soon, the members of the team have decided to give the academy club an unofficial mascot: komodo dragon. Fitting for being located in Indonesia, which has that as a national animal. Of course Sei also has Vileplume as the unofficial mascot pokemon; which fits via the rafflesia plant, which is also a national symbol. Multiple members of the team have been very active in joining the SSL media trend so far too, participating in articles and the start of graphics sharing.

Good luck new academy class, especially Jakarta. Jaya Raya!
