Nico Grimes Major Debut - Aleris - 2026-06-21

Nico Grimes has been through a lot of moves in is life. Moving from the French Federation (St Pierre et Miquelon) to East Africa, relocating home to West Africa from Greece for his Minors squad, but this offseason Grimes was called up to play in the Majors team for the organization and had to move to Guatemala. Only across the Atlantic, but the culture is completely different from what Grimes had become used to in the last 3 seasons in Africa. Training with Xelaju has been so much more intense than Grimes had anticipated. The players are bigger, they move faster, and are just overall more willing to lay it on the line to win. Grimes has made sure to stay late after practice to work on physicals so he can keep up with other teams and players in the Majors. He's really been pushing his jumping reach. Xelaju has needed him as a CB over the CDM role he was at Athens. So getting to those high balls and defending corners in a set piece driven league is of the upmost importance. Grimes was pretty unimpressive in his first outing for Xelaju but the future seems bright for the young CBs and good defenders are hard to find in the league, especially if more teams are added.
