Saphira's first minor league season went by in a flash. It seems like just yesterday she was being drafted into the Xelaju organization, and now her rookie season has just wrapped up. She had a pretty decent rookie season by league standards, but Saphira felt like she could have more for the team to put them in a better position for promotion at the end of the season. Still, she knows that the organization is on the right path, as they were in position for a promotion that nobody would have imagined at the beginning of the season.
When getting her stuff packed up in the Locker Room the week following their last game, Saphira heard her coach yell out to her from his office. He wanted to talk.
"Saphira, great to see you again! Do you have any big plans for the offseason?"
"Just headed back home for the off-season to train and help coach in a little grass-roots team."
"Oh, you know, I just learned that you were interested in the coaching/managing aspect of the game."
"Oh yeah! I love this game! Even when my legs give out on me and I can no longer play, I want to stay in the game in some capacity. I figure learning my voce as a coach is the logical first step."
"I totally get that. Saphira, I don't know how else to tell you this, but you've just been traded. One of the new Expansion Organizations, Casablanca, has heard about your affinity to coaching and has reached out with a deal that is too rich to pass up on. Thank you for your time in the organization, but we're sending you right away so you can get to know your new teammates. I believe they have plans to have you as a player-manager and will be asking you to step up as AM almost immediately."
Saphira's head was spinning at all of this. She knew that there was a possibility that she would be picked by the expansion organizations, at least until her managers told her she would be on a protected list. Now it was a guarantee. She will be joining her third team in as many seasons, so she will have to learn all new faces and all new sets all over again. And on top of all that, Casablanca wants her to help manage? She couldn't lie to herself; the opportunity excited her. This is exactly what she wanted when coming to this league. Maybe not this quickly, but that doesn't matter. It's time to seize the opportunity.
It's time to fly to Casablanca.
