Hlemýžď wakes up to a surprise
#1
The Czech midfielder has shown up as a legitimate talent on the sheets of scouts only very late in the scouting process, giving teams very little time to get a proper read on the young Arnošt, but even for him it was a surprise that the SSL was even interested in him and his talents. The timing of the draft with the commitments he has made for the next day however didn't allow him to stay up and at least follow the online draft, since the invites for the live event were already out and unavailable. When he woke up the other day, he was very careful to dodge all the messages he clearly had in his inbox and went to watch the draft replay. He sat there for hour 1, watching the big, hyped names go in the high draft positions and people excited they got them. He sat there for hour 2, seeing the less talented guys with for backup roles and longer shots to make the roster go. And then, at the beggining of hour 3, at the start of round 4, a trade was announced where Cairo traded for the Adowa Accra pick, and then and there, the words "Cairo selects Arnošt Hlemýžď" were uttered. It was a bit of a shock at first for Arnošt, hoping that he was more than just an afterthough for the draft and that he deserved more, deserved higher. And then he realized, that he is being a little unreasonable. He is an unknown player, with only short conversations with the few teams that reached out, untested, risky, and likely a bust. That's where he decided that Cairo, showing the interest for him by trading up and snatching him, will get at least something out of him. That he will try and be the best damn player he can be for the team that gave him their trust and no matter where he was picked, he will prove that others were silly for not believing in him.
