Dominik Wilk Waiver Adventure

Dominik Wilk has finally made his way into the SSL proper, by being picked up by Montreal United in the waiver process. Wilk was very unsure of where he would end up when he first announced his intent to join the league or whether he would even be picked up by any team whatsoever. Shockingly, not one but two teams expressed interest in signing the young Pole. In the end however it was Montreal that signed him and his history begun.

So far, Dominik hasn’t made much impact, playing in to games – a bad loss and a draw. It’s natural for new players to struggle, especially when joining in the middle of the season so Dominik is not worried. With the upcoming training camp and other improvements to his game pending he is sure to play much better soon enough.

Wilk is happy with his first impression of Montreal. The city and management is a major change from his experience living and playing in Europe all his life. Everyone’s been very welcoming and helpful though. The management side has been more than great, volunteering their time to help the youngster figure out what he needs to work on concerning his game. Furthermore they’ve been very open and nice about figuring out the formal and fiscal side of being in the league – things that to this moment have been completely foreign to Dominik, so all help on that front is very positive.

As for his goals for this coming season, they are pretty simple. Dominik wants to help his team get on a good roll after a weak start so far. For personal achievements, getting a goal before the season ends is definitely on his bucket list. Will it happen? Well it might or it might not, that will depend purely on how the youngster develops in the coming days.
