This is the first time Henrik has been abroad in his life. As the holiday break is coming up he is eager to come back to the northern part of Europe where the winter is apparent in the weather and not just in the calendar. Playing in Athens has been warm to say the least, and no snow to be seen even though we're getting into late December.
His brother Tomas will also arrive back at home so the family will be together for the first time in over a year. As is tradition, the extended Lind family will meet up on Christmas Eve and watch Kalle Ankas jul, a set of short, Christmas themed Disney shows that has been airing at 3 PM every year since 1960. After that hour of Mickey Mouse chopping and dressing their Christmas tree, Donald Duck having issues with a bird in the Amazon, Robin Hood taking back the tax money from Prince John and Ferdinand smelling the flowers instead of bullfighting, it is time for a Christmas feast. Potatoes, meatballs, cocktail sausages, beet salad, liver paté, aspic, eggs, Christmas cheese and much much more will be had as the traditional Christmas dinner, which usually takes hours to prepare and is eaten in about 15-30 minutes.
After the dinner the smaller kids start getting very antsy as they anticipate the arrival of Santa Claus. It's usually at this time someone in the family remembers that they have forgotten to purchase either the newspaper or some breakfast for the day after and leave to "go shopping". Soon after a red-dressed bearded Santa arrives with a large sack of gifts, handing out the gifts from the North Pole, the voice eerily similar to the family member who went out. Of course none of the kids pick up on that as they are either scared of the person or too caught up in the gifts they have received.
