Of all the moments in league history, I’d like to be a bit selfish here and focus on a particularly exciting moment for Henry Andrews, his first goal in the SSL. A moment that was over 2 seasons in the making for Andrews.

Though Andrews has been playing since Season 7, we only need to wind the clock back to the beginning of Season 9, specifically Season 9, Division 2, Matchday 1. Reykjavik were facing off with Cairo City for their season opener. The game started off quite well for Reykjavik. In fact, they had a 4-0 lead by 48:00.

The possession starts with an attempted clear by Cairo City goalkeeper Kody Hill, but things immediately go awry as Peter Oak intercepts the pass with a header directed to Matt Le Tissier. Le Tissier advances the ball up the right side looking to make a cross. He locates Lochlann O’Rourke on the near side of the goal and passes it in to him. As the ball approaches, O’Rourke spots a cutting Andrews with an open lane to the net. He redirects the pass to Andrews who fires a shot to the far side post that barely sneaks past a diving Kody Hill. Andrews puts his first ever goal on the stat sheet.

At the end of the day, the goal itself in regard to that game made very little impact. The game was already out of hand. It was a big moment for Andrews though, even if the commentators called him by the wrong name.
