Beermann set for unusual change of scenery?
#1
Münchner Merkur

With the season well underway for the SpVgg Unterhaching in the German 3rd division, the club from upper Bavaria could find itself losing one of it’s top talents in Freising born Midfielder Erik Beermann. Having mostly played in Unterhaching’s second team playing in the Landesliga Südwest, the 5th tier of German football, Beermann was still very well part of their long-term project of re-establishing the former Bundesliga club into Germany’s professional football leagues once more. The Unterhaching officials have now been confronted with questions about Beermann and rumors about him leaving their own academy and joining the SSL Academy, meaning exiting the traditional German football system altogether.

Beerman was rather straight-foward when asked the same question: „Well you see, for decades most German players have been taught that the local youth academies are the only way to become pro, some maybe taking the path over to US colleges and hoping to get drafted into the MLS. But despite it’s amibtions the SSL, at least down here in Bavaria, never really seems to be a big topic for upcoming talents.“

No matter the end result of this situation, one can be sure that there must have been some kind of fall out behind the scenes at Unterhaching. Rumors are saying that it could be about Beermann getting upset at only playing regular football down in the 5th tier instead of being slowly brought into the main team.
