Icelandic soccer culture is a dynamic fusion of enthusiasm, resilience, and community solidarity. Despite its modest population, Iceland has left a noteworthy imprint on the global soccer scene. Soccer is deeply embedded in Icelandic society, acting as a unifying force that transcends the nation's size. The grassroots development of the sport is robust, emphasizing inclusivity and accessibility. Local clubs play a pivotal role in nurturing talent, and soccer pitches are scattered against the backdrop of Iceland's stunning landscapes. The renowned Viking clap, a rhythmic and resounding chant performed by Icelandic fans, stands as an emblematic expression of their steadfast support. And this Reykjavik team mirrored that expression on the pitch to become the S11 champions! The chants of SKOL echoed in the stadium each and every time the team took to the pitch. It's an environment truly unmatched in world football. Except maybe by the army of angry vuvuzelas from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa! S12 has started in similar fashion, although with a mighty shakeup coming in the form of the reorganization of the Major and Minor affiliations. Reykjavik suffered their first league defeat in 2 seasons, but has bounced back and currently is top of the table, where they hope to remain for the rest of the season!
