Academy Task 5: Top Selling Sydney Jerseys
#1
Although the Sydney City Football Club did not take win the Academy this season, a core group of players made their presences known on and off the pitch. With the season in the books, let us take a look at jersey sales from this season and breakdown why these five players became the most popular among the Sydney faithful.

Thomas Hohenhahn
It is no surprise to see Hohenhahn at the top of the jersey sales list. The German striker wasted no time showing Sydney his offensive skills. He led Sydney in goals with an insane 17 goals in 15 appearances. This was just one shy of the Academy league. There is no doubt that most soccer fans want to see the big goals, which Hohenhahn threw down regularly. His knack for finding the back of the goal is certainly what led to his jersey being the number one seller this season.

Rigby Emerson
Sports fans may have been a bit shocked to see the name Emerson outside of an ice hockey rink but here we are. Rigby Emerson is the son of current SHL defender San-sam Emerson. For him, the ice never seemed like the place to be. Going against a couple of generations of precedent, the young Korean opted to pursue soccer. According to his jersey sales in Sydney this was a wise choice. Emerson put up 15 points throughout the 15 game season. Although he skews more toward goal scoring, Emerson was fairly balanced in scoring with 9 goals and setting up others on the pitch with 6 assists. Will the decision to hit the pitch rather than the rink end up being the right one for Emerson? Only time will tell, but the Sydney faithful are pleased as punch at the moment.

Maggie Sinclair
The Phenom from Canada made the most of her 11 appearances this season for Sydney FC. Her presence was immediately felt in the Roo locker room, and Sinclair kicked up the Sydney offence to the next level. Sinclair ended her abbreviated season in purple and yellow with 11 goals and 4 assists for a rate of 1.36 points per game! That puts her slightly above Thomas Hohenhahn in terms of points per game. One has to imagine that if Sinclair had played a full season in Sydney, her jersey would be the number one seller.

Daryl McManus
It always nice to see a local tearing up the league and getting recognition by the fans. It is even better when that recognition is coming for defensive prowess. The Australian defensive midfielder was impactful in both ends of the pitch. McManus is one of those well-rounded players that, although they may not show up on the box score every game, are constantly in the mix and give their team a chance to win every night.

Kuba Kunicki
Finishing on the list of the top selling jerseys in Sydney this year is Kuba Kunicki. KK is another player who played an abbreviated season for the Roos, playing only in 5 games. The young Pole played a well balanced offensive game putting up 2 goals and 3 assists in his short season. Although brief, Kunicki made a good first impression, and his jersey started flying off the racks.
