And before we know it here we are, Matchday 1 of the Soccer Simulation League Minors. After playing last season in the academy, Slab Head was excited to make his impact on the league known in his first game for Les Bleus.
A tough opponent in their first match up, Paris came up against F.C Kaapstad, a team widely expected to compete for the majors title in the coming season. This was a challenge relished by Les Bleus, a team filled with young players keen to make the league take notice of their aspirations for the coming season.
A cagey affair in the opening minutes saw chances for both teams and a game flow dominated by the defense. Slab Head made his presence known early with a few big aerial battles won, before Paris nicked an early goal to take the lead - Footcakes and Imeinaktok linking up nicely.
Unfortunately for Les Bleus, the lead didn't last long with Kaapstad taking advantage of a defensive miscommunication to tie things up at 1-1 before the break
Kaapstad showed why they're expected to be in a title fight this season at the start of the second half, coming out strongly and quickly taking a 2-1 lead after expertly beating a well laid off-side trap.
Deep into the second half and Footcakes again with a moment of quality, this time linking up with Jeplay on his debut, to tie things up for Paris.
A number of chances followed for both teams, with a few good saves from Paris GK Aguilera, and the game ultimately ended a 2-2 draw.
