As a recently drafted first round prospect, many eyes were on midfielder Cameron Millwall when he first took the stage for minor league club Montrèal United. And taking the stage he did quite a bit, as he managed to score a screamer of a long shot in the 83th minute of play against Cairo City. With Montrèal up 3-0 already, fellow rookie Zoe Clarke played a pass across to Millwall who took a gamble and slotted the ball into the far right corner from 18 meters out. Cairo scored a consolation goal shortly thereafter but it couldn't take away from Montrèal's clear-cut victory. His goal helped Millwall earn an impressive 7.8 rating for the game in his minor league debut.
While he could not repeat his goal-scoring success in the following games, it still marks a stellar beginning for Millwall's pro football career: "It means so much to me," Millwall said, "to be able to get off to a good start. It is a lot of motivation to keep on working, to work even harder." Only time will tell how much of a boost this provides for Millwall's development, but it sure does make for a picture perfect start as a professional footballer.
