April 9th, 2025 – From Tokyo to Buenos Aires
I’m Askito Satoshi - goalkeeper, Tokyo-born, forged in the rainy turf of Kashiwa and the concrete cages of Osaka. And today… Buenos Athenai has drafted me. A minor club in Buenos Aires.
Crazy, right?
Not J.League. Not Europe. Not MLS.
Buenos Athenai. Argentina.
To most people, it sounds like a detour. One weird chapter right? But to me? It’s the start of something real.
Buenos Athenai isn't a club you hear constantly about on highlight reels. No massive stadium, and no flash transfers... Just a squad playing in the shadow of Boca and River. But I've seen their matches. The grit, the heart. The kind of football that's soaked in mud and sweat. That's where I become alive as a tender..
They said, "We need someone brave between the posts. Someone who talks with his hands, command with his eyes." I didn't hesitate. I packed my gloves, my boots, and my obsession with clean sheets - and said "Hai, Ikou ka." Let's go.
My Spanish is clunky, and my mate etiquette is terrible. The jet lag still kicked me around like I was a soccer ball, but when I put on the Athenai Keeper Kit - it felt like I just belonged here, football in Argentina is religion. Even in the lower leagues, the pressure is wild. Fans chant like warriors, every match is a war for pride. I respect that, I LIVE for that. I know I'm the outsider, a Japanese keeper in a South American story. But I'm not here to be a novelty. I'm here to earn the respect it takes, to dive until my ribs bruise, to punch crosses like cannon shots, and to protect that goal like it's sacred.
I'm not here to be comfortable, I am here to grow. To fight. To represent not just myself, but every player who's taken a path no one expected.
