Introduction
Greetings readers. It's been a bit since I've made a report on anything for you guys, gals and non-binary palls. I, like all other members of class S20, have been busy settling in with my new club.
Let's head straight into what I wanted to shine light on, and that is the performance of the Academy players now that they are playing professional football. The season still hasn't officially started and we're only playing friendlies, but the young blood has already shown strength and character.
Flying out of their nest
Many of the veteran players were worried that the new players would be slapped hard by reality once they faced players who on paper should have been better than them. On the surface, this would make sense. The Minor teams have players who have spent several seasons there already, some have even dropped down from Major to continue their career just a little longer. All of them would have a large TPE advantage on the new kids. However, the first friendly games have shown that some of the Academy graduates are more than ready to live up to the challenge. Some of the individual players I'd like to point out are:
-Roger Roger (Krung Thep)
-Sam Albinson (Rapid Magyar)
-Louis Ashworth (FC Kaapstad)
-Predrag Dobrić (Montreal United)
-James Asprey (Seoul)
Keep in mind that these are just some names I wanted to point out. Many other players had a good debut to their season so I would hesitate to call these the "best" of the class so far. Especially since the season hasn't even officially started yet. But if you're a neutral watching these games, this might point you in a direction to entertain yourself.
Besides the many, MANY, players who debuted in Minors there are also a few who surprisingly made it all the way to the Major teams in their first season:
-BigMac Johnson
-Marcel Voda
-Trick Johnson
-Tony Delvecchio
All of these players making their debut for Shanghai Dragons and stamping their name on the game with a brilliant 5-2 win over Tenochtitlan. Speaking of which, they had a Major debut of their own with.
-Cesare Pinkman
But it wasn't just the new expansion teams that had something to show.
-Kim Minjeong
Showed up as the starting striker for Romana. A very surprising turn of events. But Romana have to take risk unless they plan to suffer for 3 seasons while rebuilding.
-Xavius Kenderlin
Also made a shocking debut as Tokyo's starting AMC. He was the Academy's top scorer but can he do it in the Majors?
A point to prove
To cut the long story short. S20 of the Academy was not only the biggest, but it might also prove itself as the best season in the history of the SSL. All of these players are here to secure their legacy in football and all of them have what it takes to brake any record that was set before.
I'll be sure to keep you all well informed on the development of SSL's golden generation.
