GRADED: A Day In The Life - Takeda Takahashi
#1
"How is everything going?"

Even after a season in the Academy before being drafted and heading to Montreal for the minor leagues, Takeda could still hear the apprehension in his mother's voice. She had always worried about him, always wanted the best for him and even with an ocean between them, that hadn't changed.

"It's going well." he said honestly, and he was relieved to see the way that the worry lines in her forehead seemed to ease at words, as well as his tone. Both of them were well aware that Takeda was a horrible liar and if he said he was doing well? Then he meant it and she could relax a little bit. "I really like my coaches, and I think that I've managed to find a position that I can grow into and excel at."

That was all he had really wanted, honestly. A place to fit into on the team, a place where he could learn and grow and handle whatever was asked of him and even in his talks with other teams, he had been hoping that Schwarzwalder FV would draft him, and that wish had been granted. Some might had wanted to be drafted higher but with such a deep draft class, Takeda was just pleased to be going to the team that seemed to have a clear plan for him.

"Is there decent food in Montreal?" his mother asked dubiously, which made Takeda laugh.

"There's actually a lot of good food here but yours is always best." he said fondly, and he could see the way his mother's eyes welled up a little bit. Takeda was their only child and sometimes he wondered if this separation was harder for him, or for his parents. His father didn't say much, never had, but Takeda had never wondered if Kenshi cared.

"Perhaps I can send you a box with some things that won't spoil." Suchin mused and Takeda's throat tightened. A taste of home would be wonderful.

"If you can, I would like that very much. I have to get going, mama, but I'll talk to you soon."

As he slipped his phone into his pocket and went to grab his equipment bag, Takeda took a moment to just breathe it all in. He was a pro now. He was going to do the damn thing.
