Season 1
The SSL started out with only six teams. Cairo City FC ended up taking the first ever league title. Tokyo Sports Club won the very first SSL Cup too. Other teams like Inter London and Hollywood filled out their rosters as well. There wasn’t a second division at that point. That season kind of set the tone for what the SSL would become.
Season 2
Hollywood FC won the league this time and also grabbed the Cup, which was a pretty big deal. All the teams stayed the same no new ones were added. There was another draft to restock the rosters. The competition looked about the same as before. Hollywood was starting to look like a really strong team.
Season 3
Inter London took the league title. Hollywood FC picked up their second SSL Cup. This season introduced Sydney City FC as a new team, which was exciting. They held an expansion draft for that. In the regular draft, CA Buenos Aires had the first pick. The Academy also started this season, mainly for younger players trying to make it into the league.
Season 4
Tokyo Sports Club won the league. In the Cup final, C.F. Catalunya beat Athênai FC to take the trophy. With Sydney added before, the league now had seven teams. The draft brought in new talent again. Not many changes otherwise, but more teams seemed to be getting competitive.
Season 5
This one was a big season. Sydney City FC ended up winning both the league and their first SSL Cup. Meanwhile, Adowa Accra F.C. came out on top in the new second division. That added a whole new level to things. The draft brought in more new players than before, since there were 10 teams now. A lot of young players started showing up from the Academy.
Season 6
Hollywood FC came back and won the league again, along with another Cup another double. They beat Seoul Mythic F.C. in the final. A bunch of their best players were rookies from the last draft. No new teams joined, and teams were starting to settle in. More Academy players were showing up too.
Season 7
Hollywood did it again another league title, making it three for them. C.F. Catalunya won the Cup after beating A.S. Paris. Interestingly, Paris also won the second division. The draft worked like before, with teams picking in reverse order of finish. Academy rosters got bigger, and more young talent kept coming up.
Season 8
Hollywood FC won again that’s four total and three in a row. Tokyo Sports Club took the Cup this time. Seoul Mythic F.C. won Division 2. There weren’t any big changes, but there was a dramatic match at the end where Hollywood just barely secured the title on goal difference. A player named Min Hee Lee, picked by Seoul, turned out to be a top scorer.
Season 9
Hollywood won the league once more. CA Buenos Aires FC finally got their first SSL Cup win. North Shore United topped Division 2. More Academy players started making appearances in games, which was great to see. The draft happened after the season like usual and helped teams reload.
Season 10
Club Atlético Buenos Aires (formerly Athênai FC) won the league. Tokyo S.C. got their second Cup win. A.S. Paris won Division 2 again. Before the season, teams held training camps for the first time. Buenos Aires made some strong draft picks that helped them win it all. The league also started posting game schedules on Discord, which players and fans seemed to like.
