Sandro Assists Four!
#1
Krung Thep triumphed 6-0 in last week’s match against Inter London in the Minor League. While there were a bevy of strong performances that led to the lopsided final scoreline, perhaps none outshone the man of the match performance turned in by Sandro da Silva that led to a perfect 10.0 rating bestowed upon him by media outlets.

The stat line that da Silva produced was absurd. He assisted 4 of the 6 goals scored by his team, created 7 clear cut chances for his teammates and popped up in shooting positions over and over, it was honestly a shame that he didn’t cap off the performance with a goal of his own.

Inter London had no answer for his penetrating runs down the right wing and he was able to assist a goal to Krung Thep striker Roger Roger with an excellent ball in behind the defenders from a more central position as well. It was a bit of a shock that the shoreline was as lopsided as it ended up being, as Inter London had over 2.5 xG at the final whistle, but the Krung Thep defence held strong and kept the clean sheet against the odds. A truly strong all-around performance from the Thai side.

In the end, Sandro received accolades from across the world for the performance that really announced his presence on the global stage to the rest of the SSL. Anticipation is building for Sandro to make his debut for CD Tenochtitlan at the major league level. This will prove a difficult task as they have a very strong young right back manning the position right now, it will be interesting to see how they manage to fit all of their young talents into the first team in coming seasons.

The performance has boosted the player’s stock in terms of end of season awards as well as odds were slashed on Sandro’s Minor League Rookie of the Year chances. He now stands as the odds on favorite as his 10 assists from 14 matches are amongst the top in the league with only a handful of much more experienced players from the tops clubs have managed to equal or better his output.

It will likely come down to Sandro da Silva vs Kaapstad’s rookie keeper Maverick Jones for the award. The rookie keeper’s had a phenomenal debut season in his own right and has Kaapstad poised to lift the minor league trophy at the end of the season as they grow ever closer to clinching the title. We will be watching the final few match weeks from the edge of our seats to see how the race shakes out down the stretch.
