Krung Thep/Tenochtitlan mid season warm weather training

Tenochtitlan     Krung Thep

The Krung Thep and Tenochtitlan mid season break took place last week, with team bonding high on the agenda.
Starting in sunny Mexico, the day started as normal with some training drills, shuttles, bleep tests, and some much needed shooting practice after the past few games. It was an ordinary days warm weather training that then took a turn later on.

What began as a venture into town for some Enchiladas, turned into a heavy night that spanned the globe. It started with the old guard Bayley de Allie and Shinji Kaido suggesting a celebration in honour of their glittering careers. Both reaching the milestone of 100 goals this season, so as is tradition 100 tequila shots were lined up on the bar. After a blessing from Pope Goose, the whole team stepped into action, downing an average of 7 shots each. Billy Elliott was straight on the dancefloor, showing off his signature moves, Dom and Roger were giving it the old 1-2 with some "munequitas" at the bar, and Tonto was going round spilling drinks and starting fights to make his dad proud. Calvin Ball stepped in as usual to save everything in sight, before a cry of "UP THE KRUNG" from Mazeed al Kazmi led to the whole team boarding a flight to Bangkok.

In what can only be described as a scene from the hangover, Joey Mamba was off charming everyone in sight, Elizabeth Rose was down the local market buying as many weapons she could carry, Jonny Elliott was carrying Owain down the street singing "We're all for Kinnear" at the top of their lungs, and when it got to 5am the streets were running riot with the drunken Techno crew.

When it got to training time at 7am they still hadn't finished the party, and after manager Caetano dragged them onto the pitch, the realisation that the balls and kit were left back in Mexico hit them. After sending out Stro and Machado to source some supplies, they found it hilarious to come back with 3 tin cans and tshirts that said "I love Bangkok" on them. With all else failing, the tin cans produced some of the best rondos and finishing ever produced in Bangkok, bringing a new meaning to the phrase "top bins".

Disorientated and hungover, the teams then played 4 fixtures over the next few days, could this be the explanation for the mid season slump? Whatever the results on the pitch, the locker room has never been stronger, and with the upcoming expansion draft, you're going to find it hard pressed to find anyone who wants to leave Krung/Techno, with the promise of the annual Mexican-Thai warm weather trip now the stuff of legends
