McGuirk Struggling in Rookie Season
#1
Inter London has been having a solid season in the second year of the SSL, granted Hollywood FC has already clinched the regular season championship. With that in mind and after a heartbreaking finish in the SSL Cup last season, the team has set their sights on the next leg of the cup as their main focus now. Players like K Clamence, Keon Joseph and Linnea Nesse have really broken out for Inter London FC this year, and Clamence in particular is really the straw the stirs the drink so to speak for the Inter London attack.

One player for Inter who has not been having such a standout season, however, is center midfielder Bud-Lite "Large Box" McGuirk. A highly touted player in the season 2 draft and Inter London's first round pick in that draft, the organization had, and still has, high hopes for the young man to be a leader quite literally at the center of the team. Thus far, however, McGuirk has not nearly lived up to the hype that once surrounded him. The stats really tell the whole sad story for McGuirk. He is one of the 20 worst players in the entire league just based on match rating alone. He has no goals to speak of, heck he only has 5 shots total on the season. Despite being billed as an above average distributor, he doesn't have any assists either. Nothing speaks to Bud-Lite's potential as a worth starter in the league, and at this point his potential is all he really has going for him. But he's certainly not trying to let the criticism get to him too much.

As a recent press conference this is what Bud-Lite had to say about his season so far:
"Hey the team is doing well, that's all I care about. Could we be doing better? Sure, we have some games where we really just let it get away from us, but outside of Hollywood I think we can take anyone any given day. Could I be doing better? Absolutely and I think a lot of it has just been adjusting to the game mentally. But this team, this league, is still in its infancy. There's a lot that just looking at stats doesn't show you and that's the preparation and the team building and we're doing that right in my opinion and I'm a part of that. Right now the Cup is our goal and I know we're gonna make a run at that. After that's done and we head into the offseason, then I'll shift my focus to what I need to work on. But right now, what we have going for us is working for us and that means it's working for me."

Inter London next hits the pitch for the semifinal leg of the SSL Cup against Montreal FC where they will hope to make a return to the SSL Cup final.
