Good evening lovely people of the SSL. It's Friday and already the fourth match day in a row. Today it's going to be North Shore United against Inter London. The venue is an unfamiliar one for both teams in recent times, The Partydome! There's space for 80000 fans, of which 53580 are filled.
North Shore heads into this match freshly off of a cup qualifying upset, knocking Majors team Tokyo S.C. out with a convincing 3-0 victory. The last two league games ended in a 4-1 win over Athenai followed by a 2-4 defeat against Krung Thep.
London has lost momentum in the league after a blistering start. Scoring 10 points in the first four matches, they've been beaten 4-0 by Kaapstad and 3-0 versus CS Rova. The English squad hopes to have restarted the upwards trend with a 2-0 cup victory over Montréal United.
North Shore shoots out of the gate, a corner by Pruney after only 44 seconds finds the head of Zaza Banana and defeats Stun Gun Jr. A lot of fans haven't found their seats yet and NSU is in the lead! 1-0.
After the goal it's London that takes the initiative, creating a couple chances, North Shore hasn't been able to get close to Gun Jr. The continuous pressure gets London side by side after 20 minutes. Paya throws in to Gagne, he passes forward to Kovács, who appears to shoot but gets deflected straight to Cappellari, who volleys it behind Chicken. 1-1.
London stays in charge after the equaliser. In the first half hour, North Shore only created one chance after their goal in the 1st minute. However the momentum shifts in the last 15 minutes of the first half, where it's North Shore that's creating the chances, leaving London on defense.
It doesn't result in any notable chances so we'll head to the dressing room with an equal score of 1 goal each.
It's Mikko Rashford III that's taking the place of Dwayne Pruney. Volkan takes over from Cain on the Inter side.
North Shore continues where it ended in the first half. Take charge of the match. This finally results in the second goal for the Kiwi team. It's Zoldick Jr that finds Rashford III in the middle with a low cross who only has to tap it in. That puts North Shore United in front for the second time this match.
This time London is not able to get a grip on the match after conceding. North Shore keeps on piling up chances. It doesn't take long for them to find their 3rd goal. Gagne passes the ball back but the speed is way off so Zaza Banana beats Bear to the ball and intercepts. Now he only has the London goalie to beat and does so without hesitation! Big mistake from the Inter London star player. It's going to be tough coming back from this blow.
Nothing notable happens in the final 15 minutes. It's North Shore that had complete control over the match from the 30th minute. Not allowing a single London shot since minute 28. That's a great defensive performance and a well deserved 3 points back to New Zealand!
Tomorrow the minor teams have a day off, we'll be back on Sunday with our report on the league match against Rapid Magyar.
