2025-12-07, 08:31 PM - Word count:
I have four players across three sim leagues, all in minor/junior/dev leagues. A strange coincidence of careers lining up that way.
Somehow, all of my SMJHL players have ended up with the same franchise, Quebec, and all have won championships - the most recent being TODAY, with my rookie Man-Child managing a chip with a 4-1 series win over Detroit.
In the SBA, I have two players facing each other in the finals, Flying Elbow Drop and Greased Scotsman. But I coach and built Flying Elbow Drop's team (Beaumont), so I'm hoping they (we) get the upset win. I'll settle or a player championship if Greased Scotsman wins instead - and maybe collect 6MOTY on top of it as further consolation. The sim is unfolding as I type this. Slowly, or else I wouldn't be typing this at all.
But here in the SSL, Tlacaelel Tepoztli is nowhere near managing the same heights. No fault of his team or build, neither he nor Montreal happen to be quite at the point of their growth arc to contend for the minor crown. Next season, perhaps they can manage promotion to the minor league's first division as their own form of championship. Maybe what the Rayures are most able to fight for this season is avoiding ending in Minor division 2 at all. Enough weeks remain for that to be just within reach, though a minor premiership surely isn't.
I'm surely not a normal sim league player to relish all these lesser league championships. But some of the most fun I've been able to have in sim leagues has been the fighting up the ladder phase. As true in the SSL as anywhere else.
Anyway. I've a championship to watch. Go Beaumont! (And go Montreal... another day!)
