Coming into this week, Kaz Okada found himself feeling pretty relaxed and prepared for the beginning of the actual season to arrive. Playing Friendlies was fun and all, but he wanted more; he wanted actual stakes, where wins and losses actually mattered, where legends were made on the field.
Their first match was against Rapid Magyar FC, and FC Kaapstad was debuting a lot of rookies on their squad. Even with that fact, Kaz had high hopes of the match, hoping that they'd be able to pull out a victory. The two teams had been close to each other in the Minor League standings after the season ended, with Kaapstad pulling just ahead.
The crowd was roaring when they went out onto the pitch, and it was finally real. The opening kickoff and they were on the go.
First thing he noticed was just how fast some of the players on the opposition were. They were more seasoned players, and it was showing. Rapid Magyar seemed to be constantly on the attack. When the final whistle blew, they were on the wrong side of a 2-1 loss. Kaz could already recognize that he was going to have to put in a lot more work if he were to keep up in this league.
Lucky for him, and unlucky for the others, was that he wouldn't quit, not until he was one of the best.
