Five Games into Division 2
#1
Here we are several games into our first season in the SSL with a division 2 to accompany the top flight division. I figured this would be a good time to look at the teams in this division and see how their seasons so far compare to their S4 results. In addition to these 4 teams, we have of course our two new expansion sides as well.

First up are the current leaders Adowa Accra FC. This team is also a relatively new side having made their debut in S4. I'm honestly a bit surprised to see their record as I expected it to be worse. They had a rough start last season, going winless in their first five games, but they seem to have recovered to a more respectable 6 wins over the remaining 17 games. Still not enough to avoid relegation, but so far they have retained this momentum into their second season, where they sit on top of the division 2 standings five games in.

On the other side of the table we have Inter London. A very disappointing start for them, coming in as the division 2 team with the best record last season. They lost a playoff against Seoul MFC to be the last side relegated, and since then they have only won one league game, sitting on a -8 goal differential. Given the strength of their roster, one would expect some improvement sooner rather than later.

Ca Buenos Aires had a horrid season in S4, ultimately finishing second from the bottom. Not much has gone right for them since then, as they find themselves only above London in the standings in division 2. Their only bright spot so far has been a stunning 4-0 win over London but they have a lot of work to do if they want to make their way back to division 1 as this remains their only victory so far this season.

Lastly we have Montreal United, the only team in S4 to have a worse record than Buenos Aires. They allowed a dismal 61 goals, an average of just under 3 per game, and finished with a league worst four wins and goal differential of -33. They have so far managed to right the ship somewhat, as they are so far the only undefeated team in division 2 and they sit tied for first place.

Both expansion sides have had pretty good showings so far, as they find themselves in 3rd and 4th place so far. Only 2 points separate the top 4, and with so many games left in the season, it's fair to say that all teams still have a chance of winning the first ever division 2 title.
