An Unexpected Landing Spot
#1
Xavier had never imagined himself living in Canada. He had envisioned himself playing American football somewhere in the Midwestern United States, perhaps in his hometown of Chicago. Instead, he finds himself in an unfamiliar town, in an unfamiliar country, with the majority of people speaking an unfamiliar language. Not exactly what he had in mind when he signed up for the league but he was determined to make the most of it, especially after miraculously being chosen 5th overall.

He found that he quite liked the pace of the city and was able to pick up on enough French to at least live there for the time being. It didn't hurt that the people were mostly friendly and the weather suited his taste. He also found that he quite liked his teammates and began to build quick friendships. Practice during the offseason went on without much fanfare or event except for the one time when Xavier managed to kick a ball into the stands on a long shot which saw a lifelong fan sent to the hospital. It became abundantly clear that Xavier should NOT be shooting from that angle and he made a mental note to pass much more than he would shoot. Perhaps that was for the best as the team clearly had some talent at the Striker position so he would need to take less shots than on any other team.

His training has begun to work though and Xavier has seen incredible gains on the pitch both physically and mentally. While he knows that he has quite a way to go (What is an "Attacking Midfielder" anyway and how is different than a Central Midfielder?), Xavier has newfound hope that he can excel here and win over the fans of Montreal. After all, he was enjoying his time there and he had no thought of leaving.
