2022-10-20, 04:02 PM - Word count:
We’re still in the first half of the season, with plenty of matches left on the docket. However, the hourglass starts to run out of sand early in Division 2 of the Simulation Soccer League, with just 10 matches over the course of the season in the six-team league.
With a condensed schedule, every match is important, but the upcoming match day provides some particularly intriguing matchups as we continue to sort out who will be competing for a title, who hopes to gain promotion and who will be looking to pick up the pieces next season.
AS Paris vs. CA Buenos Aires
Paris was worst in Division 1 last season, but finds themselves in the thick of a return to the top league at this early stage of the season. Inter London has pulled out front with a 3-0-0 start, but Paris and Buenos Aires both have two wins and a draw in this pivotal match.
The two teams even share a +3 goal differential, losses to London, and 3-0 victories in their most recent league outings.
Montreal United vs. F.C. Kaapstad
Then there’s the battle among two of the three winless teams in the division, Montreal and Kaapstad. Both clubs have a draw and two losses to start the season, although Kaapstad has allowed eight goals in those three matches. If there’s any solace for Kaapstad, they’ve faced the league’s top three teams in its three matches and most recently drew against Hollywood in Cup play.
Seoul MFC vs. Inter London
While Seoul, like Paris, was relegated from Division 1 last season, they also find themselves searching for their first win of the season. Unfortunately, their home match this week comes against the unblemished Inter London club, where K Clamance has scored more goals this season (5) than Seoul’s entire squad (3).
The odds are definitely against Seoul, but London must be wary of complacency, especially on the road.
