Toppling Giants

Matchday 1 brought about many feelings for Tata and the London club. Were they truly ready to hang in the first Division? Knowing it would be a challenge all the way, would they play with the same spirit and vibrance that saw them promoted to this league? or would they lay back and wait for their perfect opportunities to counter and steal a point? The time came to find out, and find out they did! Their first opponent on their journey into this new land was Tokyo S.C, and they absolutely came to play. They wanted to run London out of the division and dash any dreams they may have had of fighting off relegation. However, K. Clamence had other ideas. In the 45th minute, the ever resilient and reliable Scud Muffin delivered a ball to Clamence and he delivered it unto the goal. And just like that, Tokyo were behind at the half. Was it against the run of play? Absolutely. Do we take those? Absolutely!

Tokyo continued to press forward, but the entire London defense played amazingly well and managed to snuff out many attempts. Now, Tokyo did dominate the stat sheet, finishing with a staggering 24 shots, with 9 on target. But Yeboah was up for the task and managed to keep a clean sheet in his Division 1 debut. And on their way to that clean sheet, Clamence and Scuddy linked up yet again in the 61st minute to leave no doubt! Tata didn't necessarily stand out, but he managed the game well and kept a level head. He and McGuirk played in the center of the park and facilitated well enough, while weathering the storm. The game finished witha 50/50 split of possession, but London was clinical with their few chances. London had done secured the 3 points and they march on to fight for their place in the division!
