An unbeaten run in the SSL is something that has never been done before. That being said, as it stands 6 games in to the season, Reykjavik United currently sit 6-0-0 at the top of the division 1 table. Obviously there are still plenty of games to go and multiple tough matchups before the season comes to a close, but the way this team has played this season has been impressive.
They currently have a goal differential of 13 which is impressive in itself, but they average 3 goals per game, having scored 18 goals and only giving up 5. The whole team has been clicking and it is something fun to watch and extremely fun to be a part of (speaking as someone on the team of course, I’m sure others may not enjoy it as much).
Right now Hollywood is on a similar pace in Division 2, as they also sit 6-0-0 at the top of the table, but they’ve scored an astounding 27 goals, while only giving up 3. That is something quite special to see. As of right now, no SSL team – in either division 1 or 2 – has ever gone unbeaten in the regular season. The closest someone has come was Hollywood FC in Season 2, finishing 12-0-2. Can either Reykjavik or Hollywood make it happen this season? I probably jinxed it, but let’s see how it plays out!
