QSW: Atletico Medellin reaches their midseason
#1
Qingdao Soccer Weekly

Atletico Medellin and stand out Chinese youth player Wang Zhihao have reached the mid-point of their gauntlet of an Academy season. Undoubtedly one of the most competitive schedules one could schedule, the boys in Medellin play all across the world, and only engage in matches with the very finest the world has to offer. Despite such a daunting task, the team has had a number of strong showings, and quite often claiming victory. It’s an impressive feat given the amount of travel and competition being played, jet lag, time differences, and complacency all real factors battled on any given week from the entire roster and coaching staff. Given such odds, anything could happen in the second half of the academy season, but the stellar youth academy will surely tackle the task with the same professionalism despite results, as is the culture. Similar success will without a doubt be in the hands of a dominant defense unit, led by Canadian goalkeeper Wall Jr. Players such as Texeira and Muñoz have frustrated opposing attacking units all season long, and have all the talent there to continue to do so. Our local hero Zhihao has contributed to the cause with strong midfield play and a few key set pieces. Regardless of what twists the second half of the season holds, it’s clear this Atletico squad has several diamonds in the making.
