Pete Martell's season with Medellin has come to a conclusion after many weeks of grueling training and facing the toughest competition of his young life to this point. While the team missed out on taking the championship, a second place finish and a very successful season with the squad left Martell satisfied and beyond excited for the Simulation Soccer League draft. On the season, Martell had 7 goals and 6 assists, ranking tied 3rd and tied 2nd in those categories. This was the impact Martell envisioned for himself as an attacking midfielder. The hope is he can spend a season or two in the minors to continue developing and then come up in the majors to and possibly win rookie of the year (they have that right?) and make an immediate impact on the team. Not too many teams have reached out to Martell to this point so it'll be interesting to see how things play out. Admittedly, Pete hasn't kept up with the draft and who does and doesn't have picks and what team needs are necessarily so it is all new to him and he's slowly taking it in as a young kid from Washington. This time next week, Pete will know his home for the foreseeable future.
