S19
With yet another draft concluded and the conclusion of the WSFC (congratulations to the champions Benelux!) we are geared up to start the 19th season in the SSL. Today marks the start of the new season which means:
- Training Camp opens
- New draft class opens
- Anyone retiring their player will retire at the end of the season and their player can play one last one in the SSL
- Free Agents can now sign with teams for their transfer value
- Organizations may now start bidding for IA Free Agents
State of the League
We've seen two large draft classes join the league in the past two seasons and we are seeing a lot of activity in organizations on both the major and minor roster. This has been a great revitalization of the league as we are hitting new highs for weekly activity checks almost every season. We are also seeing a side-effect where organizations are having a tougher time rostering active players, especially in starting positions. The number of open roster spots is directly tied to the number of organizations/teams which in turn is directly tied to the number of managers. In our continuous discussion about league health, we have constantly identified the current interest in open Organizational Manager (OM) positions as the biggest limitation to our growth. There are a couple of organizations with open Assistant Manager positions so even if an OM hasn't published any announcement for a position, please talk to your managers if you have an interest in learning the ropes. It is much easier to get a grasp of the role if you learn alongside an already experienced user.
Jobs
There are also other aspects of the behind-the-scenes where we are actively looking for more interest, one of which is the Board of Directors. We are beginning the S19 with only three members (including myself as the Commissioner) and one intern, most of which also has multiple responsibilities within the league as a whole, which means that there is a shortage of people that are able to both handle the day-to-day activities and more long-term planning of the league. If you are interested in helping out with various aspects of running the league, don't hesitate to apply here. There is also some movement in the sim team that again puts us in need of additional simmers and commentators.
In short we are always interested in people that want to help contribute to making this league the best it can be. If you are interested in helping out with something specific but don't find any open positions, don't hesitate to reach out regardless and we can see if there is a way to make it happen.
Regression and earning
I think this is the umpteenth time I am mentioning this in a state of the league, but we are very close to implementing a change in the regression and TPE earning timeline that would help mitigate the TPE inflation we have identified in the league. We hope to have something finalized for the S19 regression period so further announcements will be sent out later in the season.

This was it for this season, thank you for reading and being a part of the growth of the league!
