Academy Task 5: Port Royal FC Academy: The Green, Black & Golden Generation?
#1
“There is something in the water at Port Royal” according to the head of youth development at the club, with no less than 8 hot prospects on the books of this up and coming academy! We should see all of the top talent tonight when Port Royal F.C. make the long trip to Sweden to take on Stockholm IF in what should be a great test for the youngsters. But how do we expect them to line up and who are these 8 hot prospects? Let’s dive in:

Expected Line up:

GK – Aspey – The Welsh shot stopper has great reflexes, anticipation and composure for such a young lad. Can he keep his cool and ensure some vital clean sheets this campaign?

RB – Johnson – A pacey wing back who loves to beat his man, preferring to find his team mates as opposed to going for goal himself. Johnson will be looking to provide those key passes and hopefully an assist or 2!
LB – Foster- A physical wing back who loves nothing better than a marauding run down the left flank. He will be hoping to become a real presence on the left flank and work together with his team mate at LW.
CB – Prince – He is best known for his physicals and aerial presence but also loves to play a long ball or two. Can he ensure that the team have a solid foundation to build on?

RCM – Lasso – A midfielder who can do it all with a great passing range and a jarring knack for getting under the skin of the opposition. The leader of the group, can he drive his team to success?
LCM – Sinclair – The playmaker of the academy who loves to dictate tempo, most of Port Royal’s play with go through him. Can he find the key passes to unlock the opposition defence?

LW – Blackwood V – A hard working winger who can really whip a cross in, a nightmare for the opposition defence to play against, can he find those late runner from midfield?
RW – Albinson – The tricky wide forward is known for popping up at the back post with a goal when he isn't putting defenders on their backsides. Port Royal will be looking to Albinson to rack up the goals!
AMC – Kenderlin – The pacey attacking midfielder loves to arrive late in the box and has an eye for a goal, perhaps the team’s greatest threat!

Likely play style:

Wing play looks like the best way forward for this group of talent, with a focus on penetrating the defensive lines with the abundance of pace and guile. Those eagle eyed amongst you will note that as it stands Port Royal do not have a named striker in their ranks, rumour has it that the coaching team have been seeking counsel from Pep Guardiola on the art of playing without an out and out number 9. At the same time I am sure they are hoping the next Norwegian meat shield comes through their ranks to ease this slight head ache!

Thanks for breaking down the squad before the first game! It didn't go out way but I'm excited to see what this academy can cook up. And I'm (mostly) not offended that I wasn't included, since I joined at the last minute before our first match. I think this academy will certainly be undefeated for the entire academy season. I agree that there's something in the water.

In future weeks I'm excited to see if there's any input in terms of best tactical uses of each player or even areas of growth that are pressing. Maybe even a prospect ranking within this academy? It would be interesting to see as TPE is earned who is standing out both in development and in performance in the academy.

BigMac Johnson will hopefully be a physical force down the right wing from defense who can support the rest of the team. Our lack of a striker hopefully won't hinder our goal-scoring and chance creation. It'll just have to be a team effort to get some key wins during the academy season. And then we'll all (surely) get drafted in the first round.

Let's go Port Royal!
