Don Lorenzo's Debut, and Matchday 1 notes!
#1
Greetings everyone! It’s me, Don Lorenzo, and today I’ll be reviewing a day in the life for me with Victoria Falls on our first match day!

It’s match day, and my alarm blares at 6:00am. I woke up alongside my roommate, Tank Denstro. Our academy team dormitories feature quartet rooms with four players. I share our suite with Tank, Giancomo Santori, and Juozas Kupinas! Although Kupinas had some scheduling issues and needed to wait a week to fully move in and train with the team.

We take care of our morning routines, including my delicate care for my gold teeth. Did I mention I have gold teeth, they’re quite cool, okay?

At 7:30, we arrive at the training ground, and the temperature is pretty warm. We do some drills, and some early warm ups. Nothing too intense, of course. We need to save our strength for the match, okay?

Afterwards, we get lunch, and make our way to our academy stadium. It’s surprisingly packed with fans who have come to see the Academy team open the season! They make the atmosphere nice and loud. What was a little surprising, however, was how many turkish fans from Istanbul also made the trip! Tank was able to help translate some of the songs they sang for us, they had some funny cheers!

I did my patented stretches for warmups, which a few of my teammates tried to copy, however, I’m a bit more flexible than them, okay? One of them fell over!

Anyway, it was time to begin the game. Coach gave us a final pep talk, and I put on my number 4 jersey. It was a cool black color, with red accents on the sleeves! We then met up with the other team in the tunnel, who wished us good luck! $2,000,000 for all their values because of good sportsmanship, okay?

The game begins! It’s a bit of a tricky start, early on, one of their forwards makes a good run, which leaves me in the dust! Ouch! But he missed the shot, so we can forget the mistake, okay? Time for a counter attack! Which we don’t do…

Istanbul then finds a good cross on a corner kick, and finds the back of the net. That header wasn’t TOO impressive, but hey, a goal is a goal, and goals get the money.

Our friends were quick to respond though, off a set piece, Narvaez picks up the ball outside the box, and found a beautiful pass to Santori, who makes it 1-1! A clean, simple finish, worth I’d say $5,000,000, okay? Beautiful play!

Halftime, and things were going alright, okay? Our coach told us to stay focused and get a little more positive, we could turn this around! Unfortunately, we weren’t able to.

In the 58th minute, they began a new attack, and led to a short pass to Davidovic, who I was covering. I set up a 2 on 1 press with Tank Denstro to block his pass, but I couldn’t realize poor Tank had a slight injury, and just missed deflecting the pass! He split us beautifully for an easy chance and goal, converted by Dobric. That’s some connection, okay? $6,000,000 pass, and a $2,000,000 finish. It was cool, but an easy shot to make. I could’ve done it!

Later, in the 62nd minute, Nadj whipped a cross into the box. I was ready to clear it alongside Mack, but we saw it was sailing farther. It found someone at the far post, and Dohbra headed it home! Poor Carlos couldn’t get a good jump, okay? 1-3, a tough scoreline, especially with two goals in four minutes. (I rate that cross at $5,000,000, okay?)

A few minutes later, they’d get another chance. They whipped a cross into Dobric, and I wasn’t going to let him score that easily! I try to knock him off course on the header challenge, but he pushed past me like I was nothing! It seems the SSL is more physical than I’m used too. Still, I have to give credit to an impressive play like that, okay? $7,000,000 for that goal! But I’ll be sure to get my revenge on him in the future! <3

We do our best, but can’t muster anything else impressive, and lose 1-4. A disappointing start to our season. Our coach was optimistic though, remarking that we’ll have Kupinas and a new tactic next week, so we should get ready!

Dobric has to be my man of the match this week, and I give him a transfer value of $17,000,000 for his performance, okay? I had him valued at $9,000,000 before, for not being too special at any one thing, but he proved the numbers wrong today. How is he only 5 strength?

With his two assists, I give Sergej Nadj a $20,000,000 transfer value! I love his work rate, okay? He showed he had the hustle to do good with those passes, and he’s certainly an impressive defender too.

I was surprised to see my rating was a 6.8, given my mistakes. Coach told me it was because I did a good job captaining the line. Aw shucks, I love him already, okay! I also had the best passing on the team, with 42 completions and a 95% accuracy. Of course, my biggest weakness was missing two KEY headers, one of them led to that final goal! I guess I should work on my hops, okay?

After we debriefed in the locker rooms, we went back to our dormitories and watched some of the other games. We saw some impressive performances. For instance, Zlatan Gibrahimovic, A FANTASTIC FINAL 10 MINUTES! His value increased by $25,000,000 for those clutch goals! What a player!

Meanwhile, we also saw an impressive goalie, James Aspreay! His team lost, but it certainly wasn’t his fault, he had a shaky defense, okay? With amazing saves, I have to give him a $30,000,000 value! The way he bounced for the saves was impressive! He’d make my life easy as a defender.

The Eagles will be back next week! There’s one striker I’m really looking forward to meeting, Minjeong Kim! They scored in their previous game, and I can’t wait to see how good they are! I value the speedster at about $19,000,000, so it should be fun!

Oh, and for me? I give myself a $15,000,000 value after my first game. Yes, I’m a little biased, okay? But I also know my strengths and what I need to improve! See you next time!
