FC Istanbul and Atletico put on a show in a wild 5:3 match, with Stefan Davidović playing a key role in his team’s victory.
Atletico came out strong, scoring early in the 6th minute and doubling their lead in the 16th. But Istanbul didn’t panic, and Davidović wasn’t about to let his team go down without a fight. In the 22nd minute, he found space in the box and finished a great assist from Voda to cut the lead in half. Just two minutes later, captain Vinnie Jones stepped up, scoring to make it 2:2 before halftime.
The second half started rough for Istanbul, as Atletico regained the lead in the 55th minute. But once again, Vinnie Jones delivered, equalizing in the 73rd. Then came the turning point, 81st minute, Nadj to Davidović, Davidović with a perfect through ball to Jimotheus, and just like that, Istanbul took a 4:3 lead. Two minutes later, Dobrić sealed the win with a header to make it 5:3.
Davidović had a solid game with a goal and an assist, proving once again that he belongs in an attacking role. Still, he wasn’t fully satisfied. “I need to be better with my passing. That’s my focus for the rest of the academy season,” he said after the match.
