GRADED: Davidović Drafted, But Istanbul Players Question SSL's Motives
#1
The wait is finally over and Stefan Davidović has been drafted. The former Istanbul FC academy winger is heading to AC Romana (Major) and Inter London (Minor) after being selected as the 42nd overall pick in Round 4 of the SSL Draft.

“It’s an honor to be picked,” Davidović said. “No matter the number, I’ll prove I belong.”

Still, while Davidović is staying humble, questions are flying around about how this draft was handled, especially when it comes to Istanbul’s players.

Let’s start with the only one who got drafted exactly where he deserved: Marcel Voda, the number one overall pick. No surprise there. He was a consistent threat all season and led Istanbul’s midfield like a veteran.

Next up was Denis Mobek, taken 20th, and Predrag Dobrić at 23rd. Solid picks, both deserved. But what raised a lot of eyebrows was Marean Dohbra, only picked 28th, despite being one of the league’s best attackers. That one just doesn’t make sense.

Thomas Jimotheus went 32nd, and Sergej Nadj 53rd, again, far too low for the impact they had during the season.

So what happened? Why were so many Istanbul players drafted lower than expected, while less impressive names went early? That’s what everyone’s asking right now. No word from the SSL officials yet, just silence.

But according to sources close to the team, an investigation is pending by FC Istanbul’s private detectives, who were reportedly hired to look into the draft decisions and potential league biases.

“But this won’t be the end of it,” said one of the Balkan players from the squad.
