MATCH DAY 1
Catalunya started off their Season 20 campaign with a rough match away at Romana, hoping to build their way up the table with new talents breaking into the player pool.
MATCH RECAP
A small attack from Romana in the 13th minute saw Nunez playing a through ball to Poggio on the left flank, where Poggio would cross it into the danger area. Twinkletoes stretched out to claim the ball, commanding his area calmly. The punt following his catch would fall into Romana hands, who would then eventually play a through into the middle where Kamenova would cut the ball off. Kamenova dribbled up the left wing, passing to Fry who was waiting on the half line. Fry took the ball inside, playing the ball into the center to Qartista, who played an excellent through ball to Bonito. Bonito carried it a few touches, then shot for far post, but a lucky deflection from Romana defender Flip made the ball fall in the net on the near post, the keeper not even near it. 1-0 Catalunya, and great play from the defense up.
The 19th minute had Romana in the Catalunya half, pressing for the equalizer. Muller played a central ball up to Emerson, who played it out on the left to Nunez. Nunez took a touch, and absolutely thunderbolted his shot into the near post, with the help from a slight deflection on Bamford and Twinkletoes getting a finger to it. 1-1.
Not long after in the 21st minute, a Romana free kick near the half line was taken short to Poggio on the left flank, who played a first time ball into the center to Pedrillo. Pedrillo would take a touch and play a through ball back into Poggio, who would carry it deeper into the box and scored a missile past Twinkletoes, just in between him and the near post.
The 26th minute saw a chance to make level terms, Kamenova taking a throw in on the left side in the attacking half. Kamenova played a 1-2 with Nelson, then playing the ball to Prusikin. Prusikin dribbled the ball centrally before having almost a sensational effort, nearly curling the ball into the top corner, but just hitting the top netting.
Right before half time, Pedrillo of Romana found himself in the middle of the pitch. He played the ball centrally to Muller, who played a great first touch through ball to Minjeong, who scored a great far post goal, giving Twinkletoes no chance. A great assist, and Catalunya had things to think about during the break. 3-1 Romana.
The 2nd minute of stoppage time in the first half saw a way to get back into the game for Catalunya, with Ahmed placing a perfect ball into the middle of the box for Qartista, who shot it right at the keeper.
Muller had the ball in the center in the 52nd minute, passing down to Emerson at the top of the box. Emerson layed it down for Hoppity, who lobbed a perfect ball for Nunez, and Nunez capitalized on it, sending the half volley bottom corner, giving Romana a 3 goal lead. 4-1 Romana.
67th minute, and Nunez is becoming a familiar name. Nunez ran down the left flank sending in a low cross into the box, where Kamenova tried clearing it but couldn't get his foot on it enough, laying it off straight for Poggio to tap it in right in front of goal. 5-1 Romana.
The last goal of the match was from a Romana corner, where Nunez played an unmarked Emerson at the top of the box, who rocketed a shot into the top corner, giving Twinkletoes no chance and Catalunya even more to think on after the match. 6-1 Romana.
SUMMARY
Catalunya wasted many good opportunities, and it seemed like they were shooting near the goal and not just on target, hoping it would get past the keeper. The defense needs to be more organized than leaving a man unmarked at the top of the box, and better with their clearances. I can see a bounce back from them but this match might be a preview for the rest of the season.

Catalunya will face expansion team CD Tenochtitlan, who played against fellow expansion team Shanghai Dragons FC, winning 1-0 at home. My predictions? Too hard to tell. I can guess the result that Catalunya will bounce back, maybe a calm 2-1 win. We'll go with that. But we can definitely get blown out again. The Cata squad just need to get their heads together.
