Greetings readers from all over the world. This is my second league spotlight of the season, the previous one about the break out of the S20 rookies was well received and I wanted to touch on another topic. There is a very strong possibility of yet another two organizations being added at the end of the season, just like in the previous one. The SSL is growing rapidly and we are barely able to keep up. Some players have already applied to be new managers so let's explore where they might place their new teams.
Minors:
-Dinamo Belgrade (Serbia)
Two primary colors: Blue and Red
-Addis Ababa United (Ethiopia)
Primary color: Navy Blue
Secondary color: Dark Grey
Majors:
-Astana Zhastar (Kazakhstan)
Primary color: Baby blue
Secondary color: Gold
-Delhi FC (India)
Primary color: Dark Green
Secondary color: White
So why do I think these countries and cities need teams? Because of history. Not just in football but complete history. All of these regions, not just the countries that exits there today, have had major historical influence and importance. Many of us in the SSL get caught up in thinking of teams for regions that are already successful in the world of football. However, that is a flawed way to look at it. Football is bigger than ever and countries which normally didn't have much interest in the sport are watching more and more each year. From the teams I mentioned, only Belgrade could say they had some historical importance when it came to football, but even that isn't much. Every single one of these teams can have a strong cultural identity in the SSL. To my shock, we have no Slavic teams in the SSL, Belgrade could be our door into that. Africa and Asia are criminally underrepresented. Addis Ababa could show their unique African heritage that survived many different conquerors. Astana could show the old nomadic culture of the people. Of all of these teams, the one I suggest to be taken most into consideration is Delhi. India is the most populated country in the world, 7th by land area. Yes, football still isn't the most popular sport in India, but it's on the rise like everywhere else. Such a massive country with so much history and culture to explore. It is a crime they still don't have a team.
These have been my short, albeit very opinionated, thoughts on the location of the new expansion teams. I truly hope that if any managers or board members see this article, that they take my words into consideration. As always, I'll be back next week to talk about something new in the SSL.
