GRADED: Expansion team ideas. Interesting countries or cities to have a football team and why
#1
Following my post wanted to be a Expansion Manager, I wanted to do something different for the weekly task.
I wanted to expanded of some idea, I'd think would be great places to create clubs for the SSL so here some ideas !

La Havana: Cuba as a interesting story, both political and cultural. To have lived close to that culture, I can absolutly see a football team in Cuba for the SSL for one simple reason: Ressourfull. Most of cuban population are extremely ressourcefull, they would rather repair then build something completly new. Therefore, having an academy, Minor or Major team set in La Havana, capital of Cuba, would have lot's of meaning. The message it would vehiculate would be of resilience, never giving up and being free on how you achieve your goal.

Honolulu: Building a team in Hawaii need to have a strong feeling of "Legacy". Most of families in Hawaii respect their code like is law. Every representation of their culture and any media is synonyme of power, dynasty and even royaly. Not only that but come on, who can resist the beauty of the island ? Vibrant color, florishing nature and lots of incredible athlete. Hawaii as a reputation to create lots of strong individuals. Some notable of them are Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Roman Reigns. There is a lot of different sports that are really popular there such as; Rugby, Football, American Football, Surf, etc.

Istanbul: This time around, I'll not talk about a capital of a country but a incredible city. Turky as not only some incredible history and extreme rivalry between clubs there, but it is place to one of the most iconic city in the world, Istanbule, previous known as Constantinople. It can be an amazing city, branching the middle eastern and europe regions, its grandiose building can also be a tourist attraction. One of the most notable player from Turkish that I know of is Mesut Özil, amazingly good midfielders from Real Madrid.

Good suggestions here, the only thing I would say is that Istanbul is already an academy team; shamelessly plugging my old stomping ground. I do think that we need to stay clear of Western European countries in order to avoid any saturation of any one particular area. I completely appreciate that they are popular locations with football being so heavily ingrained into their respective cultures, but I do think this is an excellent opportunity to highlight less represented countries. We've made an important start with the first expansion, and we should absolutely capitalise on this and thus bring in more representation.

There are a lot of countries with passionate fan bases that aren't represented here. I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a Polish team in the SSL or perhaps even a Czech team, countries like that which whilst have passionate fan bases are often overlooked.

Perhaps it's time we shake off the annals of history and have a successful team from the mighty San Marino. Perhaps we take this opportunity to rewrite the otherwise unfortunate past of these underdogs and develop a real rags to riches story. Or perhaps I'm just speaking nonsense. But it's food for thought.

Thoroughly agree with the Havana suggestion though.

Oh wow I like these suggestions a lot! I also like how you provided a bit of background for each place as to why you think they'd be good spots for a new club (and good luck with your expansion manager application!). I certainly think we have a unique opportunity in the SSL trying to represent as many countries or cities all around the world due to soccer being a global sport.

I do like the idea of Cuba getting a team, despite most people opposing their government, because, well, this is a sim league and Cubans do have an amazing history. Havana is always a place I've wanted to personally check out, so maybe I'm a bit biased here. But Havana getting a team here would be dope.

Also, I like the Hawaii suggestion, even though it's an American team, I feel like Hawaii has a much better history and cultural past than a lot of mainland places. In a related note, New Zealand could certainly use a team here, that way I can envision the team doing the Haka before each match. Back to Hawaii, this would absolutely be a great spot for an expansion team.

Also, I wouldn't mind us "promoting" an academy team (such as Istanbul) if it helps make our league more globally rounded.
