Millwall celebrates first league goal
#1
Good things come to those who wait, so Montreal United midfielder Cameron Millwall had to wait a long time until he finally could celebrate his first ever goal in league play. Montreal was facing the league-worst Cairo City FC and managed to deal with their business with a calm and relaxed 3-1 away win.
It was late in the 76th minute of play, when attacking midfielder Cade Power was dashing down the left side of the field, before playing it into the box to striker Takeda Takahashi. Takakashi passed it back to Millwall, who was at the edge of the box straight in front of the goal. Making no mistake, Millwall took a chance and slotted the ball beautifully in the upper right corner of the goal. It was the final goal of the game, allowing Montreal to put their gears into cruise control and seeing the contest safely until the very end.
"I've waited for this for so long," Millwall said after the game, "this is a moment I've worked for ever since I started playing with the United. Usually, I like to stick to doing what I know I can do well - but I took a gamble and it worked out very well!"
