First match nerves
#1
After an offseason that felt like it took ages Bob Berendsen was finally back in action, and what a game to start with.
The first match of the season is against Kaapstad, most likely the biggest contenders for AS Paris to win the Minors title again.

To say that Bob was nervous would be an understatement, he was unable to sleep the night before, replaying scenario's in his head.
"What if I get injured?" "What if I give away a penalty?"

All of this was compounded by the fact that AS Paris had to completely overhaul their formation to fit Bob in.

You see in the offseason Bob should have been training at his new position, Right Wing Back, however because of some unforseen circumstances (he was too busy playing football manager)
He was unable to make the position his own, forcing AS Paris to play him at left midfield, a position he is familiar with but has not had any game time on.

This just worsened his worries, what if Paris lost because they were unable to play their winning 5 at the back formation, what if we lose the title because of this game.

To keep himself from spiraling he took some deep breaths and meditated before the match and before long he was on the pitch.

It was as if all his worries washed away, standing in the stadium, people cheering the noise, the emotion. Bob knew he was home.

Early on in the match he got the ball and started dribbling, passing one, then another until suddenly he was in front of the goal 1 on 1 with the keeper, he shot and..... the keeper saved it.
Bob kicked himself for not taking the opportunity but he did not let that get the better of him.

The game was a nervy affair, with Kaapstad being in control for most of the match and getting ahead early. However a beautiful pass from Bob Berendsen set up the assist for the equalizer.

Not long after Belmont scored the second and Paris was ahead!

The rest of the game had Kaapstad testing the goal but never being able to find the opening to get the goal and the match ended 2-1 in favor of Paris.

Bob Berendsen was elated, he did not have an amazing game by any means, but he had some chances, made an impact and most importantly he did not make any mistakes.

Bob knew that it was only going to get better and next game he will be in his new position, eager to show the coaches just what he can do.
