First Cup Match
#1
Bob Berendsen’s first ever cup match wasn’t exactly the spectacle he imagined. The SSL Cup qualifying round had handed Paris a favourable draw against Seoul Mythic FC, a fellow Minors side struggling near the bottom of the table. Paris could’ve drawn a Majors giant, but luck was on their side. At least on paper.

On the pitch, though?
It was frustrating.

Seoul was very strong defensively. Paris passed, probed, pushed and created almost nothing.
Until the 36th minute, when Belmont received the ball at the edge of the area and swept it calmly into the bottom-left corner. 1–0. A sigh of relief more than a celebration.

The match drifted toward full time in much the same way.
Then, in stoppage time, Bob got his moment.
A quick pass found him on the edge of the box. No time to think, no time to hesitate, he swung his foot and sent a first-time cross curling into the area.
Eden Empire IV rose, met it, and buried it.
2–0.

Bob didn’t jump around, didn’t scream, didn’t lose himself in the moment. He just breathed, a satisfied breath of relief.
Another assist for the rookie and another step forward as his first cup match ends with his name on the scoresheet.
