With Walker having settled in the SSL now we luckily caught up with him to see how his he views his time at his academy team, how he sees his draft class panning out and advice for the next generation of stars.
Do you still keep in touch with your old team-mates from Victoria?
Walker: @ReadySalted despite my best efforts follows me around. He is very close to being considered a stalker at this point. But he amuses me now and again. Sadly though he's a Panthers fan, nobody is perfect but at least we both agree on one thing........FTS.
Do you keep an eye on the academy team at all?
Walker: Absolutely, it's great to see Victoria Falls doing well this season, they look like they have a strong squad. @Soviet Sexpot and @Ltblackgrizzly will be players to look out for. Scat Cat with 6 goals from 8 shots on target, lethal finisher. I hope they can continue and bring home a title. But so far, they have been impressing me. Another to watch out for is @Jelley, a lot has been said about this guy for many years, he'll start to light up the place.
Out of your draft class, who have you sat up and taken notice of?
Walker: I think this was a stacked draft class and in a few seasons will show the potential that was available in the class. @Lpapi has started of fantastically. Putting in really strong performances so far for Kaapstad. @jacobcarson877 is a great CDM and will only get better. @Pandar has found his shooting boots early and wouldn't be shocked to see him end on double figures come the end of the season. @Doc has scored and assisted plenty, Kaapstad draft class has clearly stepped up early. These of course were the stand-out players in the draft but, they have proven why they were. I cannot wait to see how they progress in the future and I'm glad to be mentioned alongside them within this draft class.
Have you any advice for the next stars that will appear in the next draft?
Walker: Train hard, be prepared and go out there and show what you can do. Nothing in this league is handed to you for free, go and earn it. Make it impossible for them to ignore you and once they pay attention, make sure they never look away.
