Academy Top 5 Scouting Report
#1
We love the Academy, and we love stats, so what if we try and look at some of the standouts this season before the draft?

Sorting by Average Rating, we'll take a look at the top 5 players, and if we were drafting just as real clubs, who would our highest targets be to get into our system?

First up is a Sydney player, Oscar Action (8.12)
Oscar Action is an offensively minded midfielder, cutting in from the right side and boasting the top average rating in the league so far. With a pair of goals and four assists in five games, Action is creating threats, with a league leading 8 threats created and second in the league with 26 dribbles. Action is causing havoc with being such a dynamic, forward threat in the Sydney system, and is buoyed by the fact that opponents need to guard both wings, as our next player is the LAM for Sydney as well. Anyone who would take Action is taking a truly dynamic threat who presents trouble for the entire offensive third.

Lisfor ilovezeagLe (7.7)
Joining Oscar Action is Lisfor iloveZeagLe, truly this pair is creating mismatches and pulling defenders out of their places whenever the ball progresses into danger territory. IloveZeagle has three goals and a single assist, as the ball is being crossed back and forth. IloveZeagle is less of a chance creator though, playing further back to take key interceptions and make long dribbles up the flank to draw out defenders and throw it back into the middle for his teammates to invade into the open spaces. IloveZeagle is more of a penetrating threat, and a team looking at him will try and figure out how to capitalize on his speed and deep dribbles.

Vumion Stitcherson (7.56)
A wing back, we've got a crowd favourite in Vumion Stitcherson, who aptly has the "Gets Crowd Going" trait. Stitcherson plays right wing back who's strong on aerial balls, and makes sure to keep his side of the pitch clean. While not the largest offensive threat, Stitcherson's decision making and rounded profile gives him a lot to work with, and teams will see a potentially dynamic force, who just needs a bit of direction and coaching to grow the way they want.

Francis Mburu (7.53)
Another Sydney player cracks the top 5, with a left-sided defenseman who's main threat is how destabilizing he is as a mental weapon. Mburu is maxed out on aggression, winds up officials and opponents, and is quick to run TOWARDS any potential fight on the pitch, provided he isn't in the middle of one himself. Frequently out of position and not really in space to create threats, Mburu is someone to look at if you notice how well he passes the ball, always on the lookout for a scrap, Mburu can tell where his teammates will be and deliver accurate passes, and get back to block his fair share.

Scat Cat (7.44)
Our fifth is an enigmatic Scat Cat, coming in with 6 goals and no assists, Scat Cat is a forward who's had a monster game with 5 goals but hasn't produced much afterwards, frequently fouling opponents and being caught offsides, you wonder if Scat Cat is a supremely talented striker with an eye for the ball, but without the training and discipline to clean it up and make sure he's not putting the team in a spot where the possession changes after a sloppy tackle. Scat Cat will delight any scout that thinks that they can "fix him", seeing that powerful shot and eye towards goal as something you can't train.

We're not so far into the Academy season, and I would't say that we've got some huge frontrunners other than Oscar Action, but there's talent available on all teams, and I'll take a look at some players we missed this time during next week's scouting PT.
