Figuring out a goal
#1
A season starts and my player is... mid! I'm not really sure what to expect in the first season but with a 6.25 average, it really is a big step down in how well I played in Academy. The first Academy or other developmental prospect league seasons are so fun because you're immediately a star with the other bot TPE and how there are always prospects go IA or something. I'm not sure what I'm hoping for this season other than the team wins, of course. Trying to set some goals, I'm not sure who's a good copy or a good model for my first season. Someone like Ashworth with 19 goals and 5 assists seems unreasonable. Maybe someone like Volkan Kızıltaş who's at 476 TPE as an IA would be a good comp? He only played half the games and was at 6.79 average rating, 6 goals, and a single assist. Maybe if we scale that game count, that's what I'm hoping for. About half as many goals as games played, and maybe that same amount of assists. Seems like high shooting, but that's what we go for. I think the next couple of seasons after this I'd be hoping to bag like 15 goals but that probably doesn't happen with me being an outside AM.

As a fellow new-ish player (assuming I read your post correctly), I'm similarly curious about goals for my player, and what it might become. I registered earlier today, so I haven't even been assigned an academy yet, much less experienced than even your player in their first season. I hadn't thought of looking at other players around my TPE or in the range I might acquire over the coming few weeks and seeing what they look like, particularly anyone with roles the same as or similar to mine. Looking at how you did that has given me an interesting option for the next time I have a slow moment at work, or at any point while I wait for my kid's two-hour swim team practice to run its course tonight.

I do wonder about the value of the attribute averages. Perhaps looking at players in the same role, who presumably have given their precious TPE to similar attributes, makes that make sense. I sort of talking myself out of my objection as I went along there.

Offering some suggestions in return from my (very) slightly longer experience in a couple of sim hockey leagues, I'd suggest talking with the management or the more experienced players on your team to see how their careers looked, whether you're in the same roles or not. In my other-sims time, that has been invaluable for me for getting more of the big picture on my player, but also understanding more about the sim, which has come in handy.

Since I'm over the minimum required words, a little humour: if you're looking for more time to spend digging into your player's possible futures and you have a kid, sign them up for a local swim team. You'll spend hours at the pool with nothing whatsoever to do. It's a great place to do nonsense like this!

217 words.

It must be because Lisfor came from a Sydney City Academy pedigree that he's looking to get on the goal train. Goals will come but remember, it is a team sport!
